  Activities - Projects

We have been involved in several activities in the field of grid computing. Below is the list of the projects we are working on:

EGEE (Enabling Grids for E-science in Europe)

The goal of this project is to create an European Grid infrastructure for the support of the European Research Area.
EGEE was launched on 1st April 2004.
CC-IN2P3 Grid Team is especially involved in grid operations, support and management of this infrastructure.

See EGEE web site at http://www.eu-egee.org
    EGEE-SA1 France web information page : http://egee.in2p3.fr

  LCG (LHC Computing Grid)

The world's largest and most powerful particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), is being constructed at CERN, and will start operation in 2007. The computational requirements of the experiments that will use the LHC are enormous.
The goal of the LCG project is to meet these unprecedented computing needs by deploying a worldwide computational grid service, integrating the capacity of scientific computing centres spread across Europe, America and Asia into a virtual computing organisation

See LCG web site at http://www.cern.ch/lcg

  RUGBI

Main goal of the RUGBI project is to realize a computing grid dedicated to the Bio-Informatics field.

See RUGBI web site at http://rugbi.in2p3.fr

  OpenPLAST

OPEN PLAST is an industrial application project using a computing grid, focused on plasturgy companies specific needs. First phase of this project is to work on the simulation of thermoplastic material injection processes.

See OpenPLAST web site at (no web site yet)

  GriPPS

Genomics acquiring programs such as full genomes sequencing projects are producing greater amounts of data.
The Grid Protein Pattern Scanning-GriPPS project aims to develop and adapt bioinformatic algorithms so that they can exploit the grid infrastructure.

See GriPPS web site at http://gripps.ibcp.fr

  DataGRAAL

DataGraal is a discussion forum about data management, systems and applications for large scale environments.
The motivation is to benefit from the experiences of different communities: system, database, and scientific applications
The objective is to understand the link between grid computing and distributed information systems.

See DataGRAAL web site at http://www-src.lip6.fr/projets/datagraal
